But I am not done.
Apparently my A$$ wishes it was done. The combo of the great track wko, TRX, some more outdoor rides and runs = LOCK down on my piriformis. The Deep 6 and the Piriformis went on strike sunday. I managed thru my long run ( in 40 degrees to start, double shorts and compression socks) but when i got done IT was done. HOUSE ARREST.
My A$$ was putting me on house arrest. I have one of those little bracelets that Lindsay Lohan has. I cant get near my bike or my run shoes till i am 95% or the bracelet sends coach an email and she promptly flies up to spank me.
It's doing better today, i learned that the ice baths are NOT gonna help loosen up those muscles that are SO tiny and so tight. And that hopefully they will let go so that my femoral head will stop feeling shoved into my labrum and the hip socket. And if you have no idea what i am talking about google Piriformis Syndrome and Deep hip rotators. I dont feel like explaining it.
So I am on opearation ARRIVE in one piece for BOUS. I am gonna wait till this sucker calms down and if that means a 12 day taper, then lets go for it. Hopefully the lockdown will ease up each day and i can get back to some run and bike by the weekend.
Congrats to all that are done, and my lovely husband has graciously offered to eat all the cookies and drink all the wine and caffeinated bevies i am avoiding till Oct 10, at 9:20am PT.
Hopefully when i will be DONE!

I hear ya on the being done and just trying to stay in one piece! I can't wait to relax after Kona. Those poor suckers doing Clearwater this year. Ha ha ha ha ha! Hope your piformis loosens up!
Oh crap! sorry :-(
I can surely empathize. But if anyone knows the right things to do and the right things not to do, its you! So, be smart, you're body has been trained, and knows how to race, you just gotta get to the race now in one healthy piece.
take care of yourself.
butt pain is the pitts. 12 more days. but also remember all of the hard work you've put in. you are gong to fly on that bous course.FLY! PS you can always come south for the winter.
Ugh, sorry your piriformis is unhappy! I'm sure you are taking great care of yourself and will be up and ready to fight at BOUS!!
Thanks for the book recommendations, I have heard a ton about his books. Will check them out soon!!
SOrry about the piriformis! But, I have a feeling that all this "house arrest" is going to give you the mental and physical boost to push for one more tough race. And you are going to do great, of course:)
Bad butt!!! Hang in there Julia! (there, another person said it :). Almost there. All the hard work is done so a little extra rest is a very good thing! BOUS is so fun - you will be so glad you did it!!
Crimson Tide ... I know the Nigtwish song. I am with Beth, all the hard work is done so a little extra rest is a very good thing.
I had piraformis issues a few years ago and it STILL bothers me if I don't baby it and talk nice to it etc. etc. Just get a deep tissue (or too) but it may take some PT once you are done my dear - (sorry!)!! I was in it for 3 months back in the day!! Hopefully, yours is just mad and will go away soon!! I'm with your coach etc. - Just HANG ON!
Hang in there and rest it up for BOUS, I want you to have an awesome race there! If you need someone to baby-sit and take the TRX off your hands until Oct 10th I will offer my services. It will be one more item out of the way that will prevent your Lohan booze bracelet from going off.
Wowza! Track & TRX make me brutally sore. Hope you can rest and regain some mental strength. I think we're all about to throw in the towel. :)
P.S.
I think I accidently deleted my comment before. Whoops!
Hey! I know about labrums and hip sockets and femoral necks too! I feel welcome over here. It's homey and comfy...
Hope your Piriformis (the only thing I HAVEN'T wrecked yet) feels better soon.
xx
yes- operation make it in one piece! you can do it. don't stress the "rest" - you just may have the race of your life!
Hope it all gets 100% as soon as possible. And I must say....hang in there.
I agree w/ Kari. You need to fly south for the winter! Take care of yourself--I know you will and you'll kick some serious butt at BOUS!
Oh no! Not piriformis. Yuck! I still feel mine from time to time a year later. Hope it feels better quick!
